BSc Optometry (Honours)

Optometry is a health care profession concerned with the health of the eyes and related structures. Optometrists are the primary health care practitioners of the eye and visual system and one of the pillars of community ophthalmology and blindness prevention.

Goal of the programme

●To educate and clinically train candidates to examine the eyes and the integrity of the visual system, to diagnose vision problems or impairments, and to prescribe and provide treatment.
●Sudan has led optometry education since 1954. The college draws on eight eye hospitals including tertiary level, a spectacle factory (frames and lenses) and research facilities through the Makkah research centre.
